Happy Earth Day!

What a beautiful start to spring we have had here in the Pacific Northwest! I can't think of another place I'd rather be this time of year. However, with COVID-19 still very present in our communities, it's a constant reminder of how closely the pandemic is tied to climate change, deforestation and other habitat destruction that increases humans’ contact with wildlife. Because of this link between climate change and coronavirus, the Earth Day Network has focused its theme for 2021 on biodiversity, soil conservation and management, reforestation and species conservation.

Fortunately, for those who are local, SOLVE Oregon shows us how we can celebrate "Earth Day, the Solve Way" And, for those who aren't able to get outside for it, join Earth Day Oregon in the #MyPlanetMyPledge campaign for a safe way to honor and recognize Earth Day via social media channels. Finally, if you haven't seen the documentaries "The Biggest Little Farm" and "My Octopus Teacher," I highly recommend them as beautiful reminders of the complexity of nature and how  interdependent we are with the land, the ocean and all of its wildlife. Plus, they are great fun to watch!

Happy Earth Day, my friends! Susan

This month we celebrate Res Nova Law team member, Jennifer Jo. Jennifer is a 1st year law student at Lewis & Clark Law School and a former chemist, having worked for Test America and 3M. She's also a first year representative to the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association and the media coordinator for the school's Intellectual Property Student Organization.

When she's not studying or working, she's out hiking or scouting out the Portland foodie scene. Jennifer has been helping us with blogging this school year and we hope to have her back for legal work in the Fall.
It's been great to have you, Jennifer!
