Not-So-Small Business Spotlight: Barre3
This September, Res Nova Law is all about finding balance. That's why we're shining our Not-So-Small Business Spotlight on barre3, a three discipline fitness studio that focuses on building, maintaining, and restoring balance. In 2008, Founder and CEO Sadie Lincoln launched barre3 and opened the doors to their first studio in Portland, Oregon. Today, barre3 has grown to over 100 studios all around the United States, Canada, and the Philippines; and they provide over 300 do-anywhere online workouts. On top of these offerings, barre3 provides its members with hundreds of deliciously healthy recipes, an online "community board" led by barre3 instructors, fitness and nutrition experts, and a growing digital magazine as resources to help people live a balanced life. To learn more about barre3 and their balanced health vision, we sat down for a quick Q&A with barre3's founder and CEO, Sadie Lincoln.
Q: Will you give us a little background behind barre3’s whole body health approach?
Sadie: With our focus on ballet barre, pilates, and yoga, barre3’s focus is always on whole-body health and adapting moves for whatever your fitness level is. While many boutique fitness workouts offer several types of classes, we offer one type of class for everyone. Our goal is to help you get in tune with your body and push it to new levels, constantly fatigue-ing your muscles and then restoring them.
Q: For someone who's never worked out in their life, what kind of benefits might someone experience from taking up barre?
Sadie: Deep muscle burn. Endorphin High. Centered Mind. The results are truly up to you, but we try to help you feel powerful and present in our workouts, whether its 10, 30, or 60 minutes. Our signature approach to teaching gives clients a rewarding endorphin high and a deep muscle burn—without pain in areas of the body prone to injury.
Q: Would you say that exercise is essential to being healthy?
Sadie: Exercise is only one part of the equation. Exercise, nourish, connect—these are the 3 pillars of the barre3 approach. It’s not just about how hard you work out or the numbers on the scale. It’s about nourishing your body and making connections in order to lead a balanced and happier life. By focusing on whole-body health, we empower you to feel your best from the inside out.

Thanks, Sadie!
We're very on board with Sadie's mission of bringing, or restoring, balance to our bodies... and our businesses! In many ways, our businesses are like our bodies—each business "part" (whether it's marketing, sales, operations, goods or services, legal, staff, or financials) has a unique and important function. Ignoring any one of these business parts can cause us to lose balance, which can really hurt a business. For example, have you ever let your marketing efforts slide during a really busy period—only to find your business in a lull once that busy period is over? If so, then you'd know that it's essential to keep all parts of your business healthy if you want it to run smoothly. Like a personal trainer, you can always consult a business advisor to help maintain balance for your business.
